Moving our home

Kirstin and I have largely enjoyed smooth sailing in life, until the last few years. Death of loved ones, career struggles, and feeling like a fish out of water in a place that wasn’t our true home. But, what exactly is a home?

From a technical standpoint, your home is where you permanently live.

But, on a colloquial level, “home is where the heart is,” right?

Home is the place where passion comes alive and simultaneously offers refuge from life’s storms. Home is where we build our most intimate communities. First, with our spouse/partner, then with our close family, then friends, and so on. It’s where we make memories that last beyond whatever material wealth we are fortunate enough to find.

And under this ideal of home, our boat is quickly becoming that place. It protects us in the storm. It allows us to connect with each other. It’s the launchpad of great memories and more yet to come.

One of the best things about our home, is that we can move it almost anywhere in the world.

This week, we take a baby step in moving our home to a new location.
