Real(ish) time update
Hey all,
Andy & Kirstin here with a real(ish)time update. This really is a sailing/sailboat channel, we promise. Our boat has been out of the water and on the hard for nearly a year, undergoing a solid refit.
We recently took a break from that refit to take Kirstin's mom on a birthday trip to Paris. We know those videos are not for everyone, but thank you so much for watching them! It means so much to us.
Right after that Paris trip, we were back at Magic Dragon doing some hard work in the engine room. We finished up that work (which we will start to share with you in our next video) and went back to Chicago to take care of some life things. Little did we know that ta category 4 hurricane was about to smash right into our boatyard.
From the safety of Chicago, we watched as Hurricane Ian made landfall in the Port Charlotte/Ft Myers area. We learned that the eye of the storm went right through our boatyard, and we waited anxiously for any news.
Was our dream shattered before we even got the boat back into the water?
Reports started trickling in and those reports offered quite a bit of hope. People in the boatyard were telling us that Magic Dragon has been knocked off her stands, but she appeared to have avoided any significant damage.
The boatyard got right to work putting the boats back on their stands and surveying the damage. Obviously, they had to close the yard during this operation for safety reasons.
We just received word that our boat is back on her stands, with no real hull damage, and the yard is opening back up.
That means the refit is about to restart really soon! Thanks for coming along on this journey with us.
Much love, Kirstin & Andy
We are so excited to have you along with us for our crazy idea(s). If you like what you see, there are many ways you can show your support (many of which are FREE!).
